The little girl came limping down the stairs at middle school
She used a cane to help her on her way
Her young and twisted body looked so frail and so weak
Well her life was a challenge every day
Two young boys stood there laughing like they’d done so many times
As she tried to board the bus to take her home
And she’d always found a way to hide the hurt deep inside
And find an empty seat and cry her tears alone
But this time it was different she turned and faced the boys
And said I’ll never know just what you do this for
Could it be that you get pleasure out of making fun of me
Well Lord knows I can’t take it anymore
You see I had no hand in choosing this body that I’m in
I just woke up trapped in here when I was born
And if God knew my future he kept it to himself
Even Mama didn’t know and wasn’t warned
She said you’re know how many times I’ve asked the God above
Just why he picked this body out for me
Well mama says is just because he sent a soul so strong
That I’m a beacon for the weaker ones to see
Well maybe mama’s right but I’m not feeling very strong
Cause when you laugh I can’t hold back the tears
Mama says that once in heaven I’ll be strong and healthy too
But, I sure have my cross to bear down here
Well the boys had stopped their laughing their heads were hung in shame
As she turned and tried to board the bus again
With tears on their faces they both came to help her up
And that day those two young boys turned into men
I guess sometimes we find in life the smallest, weakest ones
Can make the biggest difference in our world
Could it be to melt a heart like mine or turn some lives around
That God sent us this little crippled girl
Well her life grew a little from that day on
And those two boys became her closest friends
And all the other kids came to know that warm and gentle soul
That her frail and twisted body held within
